HIS 362 Ancient Civiliz of Africa

An intensive examination of classical African civilizations, their impact on continental political, economic, social, and cultural developments and their relations with Asian and European societies before 1500. The African gold trade and the empires of Egypt, Kush, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Mali and Songhay will receive special attention. HIS 362L Advanced Research Lab required if course is offered as 3-credit plus lab. Fulfills writing-intensive requirement. Prerequisite: HIS 267 or HIS/POS 300.
