MAT 482 Math Modeling and Simulation

This course provides a systematic approach to mathematical modeling, analysis, and numerical simulations of real-world applications. A broad range of applications from diverse areas such as physics, life and medical sciences, economics, finance, and fine arts will be studied. Statistical/probabilistic, stochastic, discrete and continuous techniques will be used to create mathematical models. Emphasis will be on model construction in order to stimulate students' creativity and demonstrate the strong link between theoretical mathematics and real world phenomena. Use of Technology is essential to this course. Prerequisites: MAT 201 and (MAT 184 or MAT 372), Differential Equations recommended but not required.
