ENG 223 Early Amer Literature

Critical study of English-language literary texts of colonial North America and/or the early United States, possibly within a transatlantic or hemispheric framework. Focus may be on a selected author or authors; genre (e.g. slave narrative; captivity narrative); cultural keyword (e.g. sympathy); or some other topic. This course may be taken more than once, provided it addresses a different topic when taken again. (L04)
