ENG 201 Language and Linguistics

Introduction to recent developments in language study and to the principles of linguistics. Course examines the structure of the English language including phonology, morphology, semantics, and pragmatics, as well as traditional descriptive, prescriptive, and generative-transformational grammars. Students will engage in guided research, writing, and oral presentations focused on language use in its everyday form and related social variables. Fall
