POS 219 Global Environmental Politics

This course critically examines the dynamics underpinning environmental problems and possible solutions. We will challenge simple explanations of ecological degradation such as poverty or overpopulation. In addition, we will explore some of the most pressing and/or controversial environmental challenges of our day, including famine, deforestation, water conflicts, protected areas, environmental racism, environmental justice and eco-tourism.
