Policy Provisions
1. The Faculty Role in Institutional Governance

Cumberland University's Board of Trust holds ultimate authority for the governance of the University. The Board of Trust has delegated certain areas of authority to the President for his or her final approval, including matters regarding the Faculty of the University.
Subject to final approval by the President, the Vice President of Academic Affairs and, where necessary, the Board of Trust and/or the Board of Trust's Academic Affairs Committee, the Faculty is charged with and given authority to monitor curriculum and academic program development, and to serve as a major consulting and recommending body for all areas of the University affecting academics including, without limitation, the academic criteria for admission and retention of quality students; candidates for earned and honorary degrees; and policies for academic discipline of students.

The Cumberland University’s Board of Trust is the ultimate authority for the governance of the University. The Board of Trust delegates, through the President, certain areas of authority to various constituents of the university. The Faculty is one such body. The faculty is delegated the responsibility of monitoring curriculum and academic program development and is a major consulting and recommending body for all areas of the university affecting academics. This role is served through individual department and school engagement and individual assignment/appointment to university committees.
