SCI 100 Fundamentals of Science

This course will serve as the scientific foundation for Special Education and Childhood Education non-science concentrators as a science laboratory course designed to address the New York State Education Department science and technology standards in physics and chemistry for children in grades 1-6. Students will utilize concepts and processes taught in the classroom and in a laboratory setting for the purpose of problem solving in a problem-based workshop. The two-and-one-half hour lab and one-hour workshop will be held at times separate from the lecture. Students completing this course are expected to take SCI 200, which includes a laboratory and workshop, to complete the required 8-credit hour science sequence for Special Education and Childhood Education non-science concentrators. Lab fee. This course may not be taken pass/fail. (L09)
