ART 220 Sculpture 1

ART 220 is a sculpture course that introduces students to the history and practice of sculpting a likeness of the human figure. Students will research a wide range of academic figure sculpture with emphasis on the contributions of artists of the Modern Period. Students study basic human bone and muscle anatomy and traditional modeling techniques using water-based clay for portrait and full figure clay studies. Additional requirements include participation in armature construction, electric kiln firing, mold-making and casting in a variety of materials. Materials fee. Prerequisite: ART 112.
