SOC 288 Social Statistics

This course is a survey of elementary descriptive and inferential statistics that focuses on the data and methods used by social scientists. Beginning with percentages and ratios, the course examines various measures of central tendency, dispersion, and correlation, and then proceeds through estimation, hypothesis testing, regression, and other appropriate topics. SPSS analysis of statistical methods is an integral part of the course. Prerequisite: at least two years of high school mathematics. Admission to this course is contingent on a mathematics placement exam. Fall, Spring
