SEE 486 Portfolio: Spec Ed/Chldhd Ed

This course is required of all Special Education / Childhood Education teacher candidates during the student teaching semester. The course will provide support for candidates as they complete the transitional and capstone phases of their developmental portfolio. At the beginning of the student teaching semester, candidates will develop a transitional portfolio by selecting evidence from their past coursework to demonstrate their proficiency in four areas critical to teaching: Planning and delivering instruction, Assessment, Classroom and Behavior Management and Professionalism. Using a Chalk & Wire electronic platform, they will showcase and analyze their work as guided by reflection prompts. Faculty will review and provide feedback on this transitional portfolio. At the end of the student teaching semester, candidates will complete the Capstone phase of the portfolio by adding additional evidence from the student teaching experience and once again reflect on their work by responding to specific prompts. Prerequisites: All courses in the major. Co-requisites: SEE 485 and 495
