CJS 101 Fundmtls of Criminal Justice

This first year experience course addressed specifically for first year, first semester criminal justice majors. It is designed to build study skills as well reading comprehension and written and oral communication skills necessary for student success in college and as a criminal justice major. Students in building the above skills also gain an understanding of policing, the courts and adjudication, and corrections. Students will recognize the nomenclature used in the field of criminal justice and identify the relationships between and among the major criminal justice organizations responsible for social control (i.e., law enforcement, the judicial system, and corrections) and the society whose interests they serve.
