BIO 499 Biology Field Trip Course

This course is a supervised study in some geographical area preceded by classroom preview and concluded by a time of evaluation. This course will be closely allied with the Anthropology field course offered concurrently. The course will allow the student to explore the ecological diversity that occurs in transition from the mixed hardwood forests of Tennessee to the deserts and plateaus of the southwestern United States. Emphasis will be placed on the major flora configurations of these areas and the geological and geographic influences upon them. Detailed studies will focus on the zones of vegetation in Northern New Mexico. Students will also consider how the vegetation has impacted Native American cultures in the area. Additional fees may be charged.
