Secondary Education

Candidates interested in a Tennessee teachers license covering a 7-12 or 9-12 grade span should first confirm that Cumberland University is approved to recommend their particular type of license. A list of the types of licensure we are authorized to offer can be found at the State website for Tennessee Approved Teacher Education Programs (http://www.k-12.state.tn.us/ihelicense/ProgramsList.asp).

Candidates must pass the Praxis Content Knowledge Test for their type of licensure before they are permitted to student teach. Candidates should take this test in their first semester in the program.
