POS 358 Human Rghts in Global Perspect

This course will provide a basic introduction to global human rights issues be examining the following questions: What are human rights? What are their origins? What are the main global human rights agreements? What are some of the problems of global human rights agreements? Are regional human rights agreements more effective than those of the United Nations? In addition to these questions, we will look at contemporary case studies like Darfur , Rwanda, Bosnia, or the Middle East. POS 358L Advanced Research Lab required if course is offered as 3-credit plus lab. Fulfills writing-intensive and diversity requirement.
