Classification of Students
Individuals are admitted to graduate study as matriculated (degree or graduate certificate) or non-matriculated (non-degree) students. (NOTE: Not all programs accept non-degree students.)*
- Applicants who meet all requirements for admission to degree programs, and who have been approved by the faculty, may be admitted as degree- or certificate-seeking matriculated students.
- Students who have enrolled in graduate study but are not pursuing degree or certificate programs are non-degree, non-matriculated students. Students applying for this status submit applications, official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended and a brief statement of purpose. Those who register as non-degree students must recognize that courses taken may or may not be credited toward degrees if they eventually enter degree programs. Decisions about applying credits earned prior to matriculation to degrees will be reached by the faculty of programs to which students apply.
