Conduct and Grievance appeal for Student-Athletic Issues

The education, conduct, and grievance procedures for student-athletes at Cumberland University mirror the procedures for the general sh1dent body. The Athletic Director and the Assistant Athletic Director will work in conjunction with one another in handling the education, discipline, and grievance procedures for the student athletes. The Head Coach will be the first point of contact for discipline for their respected team.

If a student-athlete has received a disciplinary action from a coach and would like to file a complaint or appeal, he or she must do so through the Athletic Director's office. The AD, in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director and Dean of Students, will in turn handle the situation and determine a ruling to be handed down at that point; he/she may appeal the decision to the Athletic Committee. During the appeal, the AD and Assistant Athletic Director and Dean of Students will present the information, with the student-athlete present, and then step aside and let the athletic committee members hear the appeal and render a decision. For matters concerning student conduct, see the CU Student Handbook or refer to the Faculty and Staff Handbook.
