BIO 111 General Biology I

This entry-level course is designed to familiarize the student with the basic concepts necessary to understand the biology of specific organisms studied in other courses, as well as provide pre-professional students a basic background for specific disciplines (nursing, physical therapy, etc.). Principles of cell structure and metabolism, such as mitosis, genetics, respiration, photosynthesis, and protein synthesis, will be emphasized. This course is a prerequisite for most upper level biology courses and will satisfy the GEC biological science requirement for graduation. Three hours of lecture.
