Art and Design, Studio Art Emphasis with Art Education Teacher Licensure (K-12)
Candidates seeking a license to teach Visual Art in grades K-12 must be enrolled in Art and Design, with an emphasis in Studio Art with optional Art Education Teacher Licensure. Art Education is a K-12 teaching license, offering a wide range of teaching experience.
Candidates for teacher licensure should work with an advisor in the academic program and in the School of Education and Public Service early and often to ensure enrollment in the required courses. Candidates have few or no elective courses available, so advisor consultation in both schools is especially important. The School of Education has specific GEC and grade requirements.
